Foundation Skills

Certificate II in Skills for Work and Vocational Pathways (FSK20119)

14 subjects
(delivered as required as a preparatory program for Certificate 3 students) – not offered as a standalone qualification and usually only some subjects from this course are added to a student’s enrolment as required.

This qualification is designed for individuals who require further foundation skills development to prepare for their Certificate III in Hospitality studies.

Ideal for individuals who need:

A pathway to employment or further vocational training
Reading, writing, numeracy, and learning skills at ACSF Level 3
Digital literacy and employability skills
A personalised training plan before entering Certificate III in Hospitality

Note that 1 Education does not offer this course as a standalone enrolment. Instead, the qualification is used to select certain subjects that the student needs to strengthen in order to successfully complete corresponding subjects in the Certificate III in Hospitality (SIT30622).

Hospitality

Certificate III in Hospitality (SIT30622)

This qualification is delivered from a live hospitality venue in New Farm, Brisbane, and provides individuals with a range of hospitality (food and beverage) skills, ready to be applied to the real work environment..
Graduates will have capability to seek work in organisations such as restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops.
This course is offered to people who have little to no exposure to hospitality, apart from perhaps by studying the Certificate II in Hospitality whilst at high school, or by doing some casual work in a hospitality or retail work venue such as a pub, club or food retailer. The course typically takes students 3 to 12 months to complete, starting with 2 weeks full-time plus 4 weeks part-time class attendance and then students enter into an on-the-job component where they must complete 36 shifts of work placement to graduate. Please note, this program does involve an intensive pace of hands-on learning as well as additional homework to be completed each day and between classes.

Diploma of Hospitality Management (SIT50422)

This qualification is designed for individuals who have some experience in a hospitality service role who would like to gain skills to advance into a management position.
The subjects chosen in this qualification are applicable to restaurants, hotels, motels, clubs, pubs, cafés, and coffee shops.
